An Everyday Spring Look

Saturday, 7 April 2018

My everyday makeup as of late has been very simple - bronzy, but subtle at the same time. My eyeshadow remains fairly neutral, I throw on a nude lip and that's it. As Spring is now upon us (or so I think so) I wanted to add a pop of colour into my makeup, but have it still be completely wearable for everyday.

Whenever I choose to wear a bold, red lip (usually no other time than Christmas), I tend to keep my eyes fairly simple. I used my trusty Morphe 305M palette and ran a light, transition brown shade into the crease of my eyelid, and my lower lash line. Added my current favourite mascara, the Scandal Eyes mascara from Rimmel, and stuck on a pair of 'Harley' Red Cherry lashes. I used to wear eyelashes on the everyday basis, but it is a habit I soon grew out of, purely to save time in the mornings (more time in bed I mean..). This gorgeous lip combo is 'Chicory' lip liner from Mac, and a matte lipstick from NYX in the shade 'Perfect Red'. They are the perfect pair.

Christmas Reds

Friday, 8 December 2017

Christmas is the season of the red lip. Of course, by all means, you can wear a red lip any time of the year, but for me, red is definitely my Christmas lip colour of choice. Finding the right red lipstick can end up being quite the chore. There are so many undertones to consider... so I thought I'd share with you my favourite red lipsticks that I will without a doubt, be wearing the hell out of up until Christmas.

Younique Splash Liquid Lipstick in Sizzling
Last Christmas, this was all I wore on my lips. Red lips make me feel super festive, and I couldn't put this one down. The formula of this lipstick is somewhat like a mousse, and this makes application easy. It lasts on the lips - even after eating Christmas dinner, so that must be saying something haha!

NYX Perfect Red Matte Lipstick
Every time I have worn this red, I am always asked what I have on my lips. Even though it is matte, this lipstick doesn't dry out the lips and is comfortable to wear for a long period of time. It definitely is a perfect red shade that looks amazing with winged liner and lots of lashes. I'd definitely like to try more colours of this range from NYX, especially as it's the most affordable of my favourite red lipsticks.

Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Merry
Merry is a much deeper red in comparison to the other two I have mentioned so far and it dries down completely matte. I love the berry/pink tones in this liquid lipstick, but I am not massively keen on the formula. The smell is a bit too overpowering, and I found it made my lips feel very dry. That being said, Merry looks gorgeous with a red gloss over the top, which also helps with the drying formula.

MAC Diva
Diva was one of the first MAC lipsticks I ever got, and I used to wear it non-stop. I find that applying this lipstick in different ways gives you a different shade of red, which I am not mad about. Dabbing this lipstick onto the lips creates a slightly lighter, but still deep toned burgundy red, whilst applying like a normal lipstick gives an intense burgundy finish. I cannot wait to whip this one out again!

Charlotte Tilbury in So Marilyn
So Marilyn gives the lips a beautiful red sheen. It's not a matte lipstick, it's definitely more on the satin side. It's not hard to wear, doesn't dry out the lips and is the perfect size to throw into your handbag. I love the fact that these lipsticks are mini... You can essentially give the shade a proper try before you commit to a full size lipstick! Who can resist a mini lipstick though?!

Pink and Red Half Cut Crease

Wednesday, 5 July 2017

Second year of University is finished, which (hopefully) means my motivation to get back into blogging, and creating make-up looks will come back. I had a rare moment of inspiration and thought pink and red would look good together.
I apologise that the quality of these photo's aren't the best... I picked the best from a bad bunch!

I used the Morphe 305M palette for the colours in my crease. The pink colour on my eyelid is a mixture of the MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle and the shadow called 'Blossom' from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Self Made eyeshadow palette.
The concealer I used to 'cut' the crease was the Bourjous Radiance Reveal concealer in the colour 01 Ivory. This stuff is amazing!
I used Kylie Cosmetics Merry liquid matte lipstick to create the red liner. This step was super tricky and time consuming -  I wouldn't recommend using it as an eyeliner as it stained my eyelids :-(
The lashes I am wearing are by Red Cherry (my favourite brand of lashes - they're so affordable and can be used multiple times) in the style #213. I always get my lashes from here.

What eyeshadow colours do you think look good together?
