Jeffree Star Blood Sugar Palette

Apologies for the lack of post last week, but I was busy in Paris for my birthday weekend (post to follow don't you worry!). Firstly, I want to say a massive thank you to Rachel who kindly purchased this palette for me for my birthday - you know me so well. Anyone who reads my blog will know that I am a massive fan of any eyeshadow colours that are brown/orange/pink. This palette hits the nail on the head, and encompasses allll of those colours so well. This is the first Jeffree Star Cosmetic product that I have tried and here are my thoughts.

Packaging

I think everyone who has watched the Jeffree and Shane Dawson series on YouTube will agree with me when I say that I have a new found appreciation for the thought that goes into creating and coming up with ideas for packaging. It's a bulky palette, no denying it, but it's so unique with the metal clasps that stop the palette from coming open. It may not be the best for travelling with, due to the thickness, but you know if you are to take it with you, you have all the amazing colours to make subtle looks or full glam looks. It feels really luxiourous too - it's heavy! Love the addition of the mirror too, which does make it perfect for taking with you on journeys.

Shadows

They're so soft to touch, and any brush seems to pick up the most pigment. They're incredible. A massive fan of the colour scheme. All of the shades are so wearable and can create an amazing number of combinations. The attention to detail with the pressed pans too look so cool. The photo below was a wipe around the pan once, and swatched onto my arm, and as you can see.. so much pigment! My favourite shades have been: 'Sweetner', 'Donor' and 'Cake Mix'. Very impressed with this palette so far.

Autumnal Eyes

We've been having some incredible sunsets and sunrises as of late. I took inspiration from them and played around with makeup. This is what I came up with. Definitely a 'sunset' type of eye look. I loved how it turned out. Want to know how I created it? Read on below..

I started by blending the colour 'Hello Sunshine'. a perfect bright yellow shade from the BeautyBay EYN Bright palette (of course), right under my eyebrow and down into the crease. I then took 'Heat Wave' from the same palette, and blended it just beneath the yellow colour. Next I took 'Tutu', a gorgeous pink shade, and did the same - blended it just below the orange shade, to make it look like a gradient. I then took 'Modern Way', a light purple, and blended it below the pink. I grabbed a black eyeliner pencil and shaded in my eyelid. 'Drama Queen' was placed on top, and blended into the lighter purple shade placed in my crease. I repeated the gradient on my lower lash line, added my favourite lashes - the Red Cherry in the style Harley, and added some mascara. Ta da!

Green Eyes

Of course, after purchasing a new eyeshadow palette comes one thing.. Eyeshadow looks, duh. I was so excited to play with a bit of colour for the first time, and the green shades in the palette were definitely calling me. It's been quite a while since I have properly sat down and played with some different eyeshadows, and a rainy August day seemed the most appropriate time to do so. Here is what I came up with.

The Beauty Bay EYN Bright palette has SO many amazing colours to choose from, but I slowly made my way through the 4th line of shadows in the palette, where all the green shades are found. Firstly, I started by adding little by little of the shade 'Hello Sunshine' into the crease, blending in circular motions. Once I was happy with that, I moved onto a greener shade, 'Granny Smith' and blended that up into the yellow colour. I then used a slightly darker shade 'Oasis', placed it beneath the first two colours and the outer corner of my eye, blending them together to make it all look as seamless as possible. Next, I took shade 'Labyrinth' and put it directly into the outer corner of my eye, blending back and forth with this colour and the two first shades. I then took shade 'Stormy Night', and blended it on top of shade 'Labyrinth', until I was happy with the depth of colour in the outer corner.

I 'cut my crease' with the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer and a Real Techniques Detailing brush - I love to use this brush to carve out my eyebrows with concealer too. It is truly perfect for detailing. The shade on my lid is 'Frosted Lime' - it looks so pretty! The lashes I am wearing are my go to, Red Cherry lashes in the style Harley.

Beauty Bay EYN Bright 42 Shade Eyeshadow Palette

Isn't it beautiful!? I have been after a palette with colour in for the longest time. My search started back when the Morphe 35B palette was the one that everyone wanted. It was forever out of stock on Cult Beauty and I accepted that I wasn't going to have any funky colours to play around with. Although, that has now completely changed. I was scrolling through Instagram late one night and stumbled upon >this< beauty. I was aware that Beauty Bay had started making their own palettes, but not so much that they did one full of colour. I ordered it right away.. Here are my thoughts.

Packaging 

A beautiful outer sleeve of holographic.. What's not to love? The palette itself is rather large, but it isn't chunky, heavy/weighty or thick. It's the perfect size for slipping into an overnight bag, or to a rucksack for a festival. With the addition of a lovely sized mirror too, it would be silly not to take travelling. 

Product

With 42 shades and a price point of £23, an eyeshadow is £0.54 each!!! That's just craziness. You get a whole spectrum of colours, and mattes and shimmers. The shade names are so cute too - bumble bee being one of my favourites! There is definitely something for everyone in this palette. You want neutrals? Head for the top row. Pretty pinks? Second row is for you! A mixture of all sorts? Throw any colours together. 

When it comes to pigmentation, I was completely blown away! A little bit went such a long way. They were so easy to build upon each other, and you can definitely choose whether you want a touch of colour, or all the pigmentation. Look out for next weeks post..

Smokey Black Liner

It has been a minute since I've had the time to sit down and be creative with make up and I loved how this turned out. A few years back, there would be no chance that I would leave the house without a pair of lashes and a sharp eyeliner. However, now, I much rather a touch of a natural eyeshadow and a lick of mascara - no eyeliner in sight. In fact, I think I threw all of my liquid liner away. A new woman!

This look was super simple to create, and consists of three eyeshadows and a bit of black eyeliner pencil smudged in my top and bottom water lines. I started with a soft, light brown shade from the Morphe 305M palette in my crease. Then I took a darker brown and blended this into the outside corner of my eye, bringing it up into the crease of my eye. I took the Zoeva Winged Liner Brush, dipped it into a black eyeshadow from the Anastasia Self Made Palette (an oldie but such a goodie), and drew in a winged liner. I then took a pencil brush and filled in the wing with more of the same black eyeshadow until I was happy with how it looked, and just kept smudging and blending until the whole look came together.

These are my favourite pair of lashes ever - the Red Cherry Harley in the style #213. They're so natural, yet so full at the same time. I couldn't recommend Red Cherry lashes any more.

Festival Appropriate

I know that summer is very close to being over now, which means that festival season is coming to an end. Before we say goodbye to another summer season, here's a festival appropriate look for ya. Of course, if you love to wear colourful eyeshadows on the daily - I admire your courageousness. But using what I call 'bolder' eyeshadows isn't something I do often at all. I'd love to play around with more colour, but unsure on what palettes are best - if you know of any insane palettes full of rainbow colours, let me know. This is definitely a look I'd wear to a festival, or an event where throwing glitter and wearing funky outfits was a necessity.

Green is a colour that I rarely use, and if there is a shade in a palette, it's not one I gravitate towards at all. However, I think that the green shade, which is a Mally Evercolour Starlight Waterproof Liner in the shade 'Caribbean Sea' looks gorgeous blended out on my lower lash line. No better excuse than to throw colour all over your face (and eyes) than a festival.
I started with the shade 'Blazing', a true orange shade from the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk palette, and added a bit of 'Burgundy' from the Kylie Cosmetics Burgundy palette through the crease. To create the cut crease, I used the Bourjous Radiance Reveal concealer. I set the concealer on my eyelids with the shade 'Royal' from the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk palette - that gorgeous metallic, purple colour. These amazing lashes are from Red Cherry and are in the style #43.
