Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipsticks

Saturday, 2 June 2018

Ever since I having received the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk eyeshadow palette for my 21st birthday, I have been dying to try some more of Huda Beauty's products. I know her cosmetics line is well known for her gorgeous eyelashes, but I'm not one for wearing false eyelashes all the time anymore. Don't get me wrong, when I'm going out I love to finish my makeup with a pair, but I don't wear them enough to be able to justify splashing out on them. There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing so, personally, I don't think it's worthy. That left trying her liquid matte lipsticks! My Mum kindly sent me these shades from the bunch that she ordered herself, and I have been wearing nothing else on my lips since receiving them.

Top - Heartbreaker, Middle - Bombshell, Bottom - Icon
The shades that I picked were:
Heartbreaker - It's described as a 'Pinkish Red' but I would describe it as a true red shade.
Bombshell - Described as a 'Subtle Pinkish Nude'. I would say that's exactly what it is. I have been wearing this one as my everyday nude shade and it's perfect.
Icon - Described as a 'Peachy Pink'. This shade is more out of my comfort zone but I love it for that reason. It's not the usual shade I would gravitate towards, but with bronzy skin I think it would look beautiful on the lips.

The formula of these lipsticks is one of the best that I have tried. I would definitely compare them to the Anastasia Beverly Hills ones, so if you like those, you're going to equally like these just as much! They dry down quickly, and the colour doesn't change at all. Sometimes the shades can look different in the tube to what they end up looking like on the lips, but not with these! They're really long lasting - although after eating or drinking, they do need a little top up, but that's usually the case with any kind of lipstick. I'd definitely recommend giving the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipsticks a try if you are in the market for trying out some new liquid lipsticks.

Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Palette

Saturday, 6 January 2018

Back in November I turned 21. I must have celebrated my birthday at least 5 times... I was completely spoilt rotten by loved ones - I will never be able to thank them enough. My lovely friend Rachel, treated me to the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk palette, which took me completely by surprise. Never have I been so excited to try something. I mean, just look at it! I thought I would share my thoughts with you about this beauty, and maybe, just maybe, persuade you to try it yourself!

Never have I tried anything from Huda Beauty before receiving this palette. I had heard of the brand and knew it was well known for their false lashes, but just wasn't drawn to anything enough to want to try it. However, it's always exciting to try new products...

This palette is so atheistically pleasing. From the outer packaging to the inner, everything looks so luxurious and clean. Even the little plastic slip that keeps the eyeshadows away from the mirror, was detailed and printed with the illusive Huda Beauty eyes on! The Desert Dusk palette has 18 shadows in total: 8 matte shades, 6 pressed pearl shades, 3 duo-chrome lid toppers and 1 pressed glitter. Such an amazing variety of finishes and looks to try out on the eyes.  With 18 shades, and a substantially sized mirror (which I can appreciate), there are so many different looks to be created, subtle and glam. My favourites so far have been 'Eden' a pinky/peach matte shade (which was unfortunately broken, but was salvageable), 'Oud' a warm brown matte, and 'Cashmere' a pearly silver shimmer. When I get the time to sit down and play with makeup, for sure 'Twilight', 'Retrograde' and 'Amethyst' will be calling my name!

Since receiving this palette, I haven't put it down. It has been used on every occasion that I have worn makeup. Every shade that I have tried is super pigmented, and blends like a dream. The darker colours take more time to blend but I think that's what is expected. More time is always needed to blend out darker shadows. There isn't much that can be faulted with this beauty. There is a fair bit of 'kick back' or powder from the shadows when dipping your brush into the pan, but if you go in with a light hand, this can be avoided. Overall, this palette is incredible. You're certainly getting what you pay for.
