How To Have The Most Organised Autumn

Saturday, 21 September 2019

The start of a new season and a changing of the clocks. Autumn brings the joy of darker mornings and darker evenings as the clocks make their return to being put an hour forward. We lose an hour sleep, and we lose an hour of our day. This darkness in our surroundings does tend to make me feel less productive. It definitely makes it easy to hide under blankets and fairy lights, with a hot chocolate in hand, getting through all the Netflix that you can. Getting up in the dark, going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark, never does favours for most. I've thought to comprise a list of pointers, which I know I'll need to be using, in order to get things done during the darker evenings.

An old school idea that does work so well. Prioritise what it is that you need to get done. Tick it off once you have done it. Ever so satisfying to cross tasks out when they have been completed. You can manage your time so much better if you stick to a schedule.

Clear Surroundings, Free Mind
I can always plan, organise and think so much clearer when my surroundings are tidy, and clear. If I haven't made my bed, then my day can't be off to a good start. I love to have a clear out when the seasons change. Whether that be a declutter, a clothes sort out, a makeup clear out, or just a tidy up in general, it always tends to make me feel lighter and more prepared for tasks or chores that I need to get finished.

Listen To Your Body
If you're feeling under the weather (it's begun..) which I have most definitely been struggling with this past week or so, then chill out. Don't feel the need to power through those lists. If you're simply needing to relax, then do so! If you've had a tough day and just want to put your PJ's on and do nothing, embrace it.

Make The Most Of The Daylight Hours
I don't know about you, but I am always the most motivated to get on with the day when I wake up in the morning. I know that if I lie about in bed when I am awake, that sets my mood for the rest of the day. Get up and go definitely works best for me. When the evenings draw in, it is 100% made easier to crack on with things when it is nice and light outside.

What helps you the most to get organised?
