Lipsticks I Cannot Wait To Start Wearing

Saturday, 5 October 2019

It's that time of the year again, where our surroundings change hue and colour. The best time of the year in my opinion. I love to draw inspiration for the changing of the season, and reflect this in my lipstick choices. Here are my fav lip colours for the Autumnal months.

Mac Viva Glam 3
This gorgeous plum toned lipstick looks incredible on the lips when wearing camel. I love to pair it with my lovely camel zara coat. A dream match made in heaven. Definitely one that's on the bolder side of lipsticks, but if that's your thing, you'll adore this shade. It being a matte too, makes it so easy to wear.

Mac Retro
A shade that I chose to wear with my sixth form prom dress, but one that I still love to this day. It's a brown toned red, in my opinion. Very warm in colour. Again, a matte, that lasts all day and night!

Top to Bottom - Taupe, Viva Glam 3, Heartbreaker, Perfect Red, Retro. Diva.

Mac Diva

One I'll always love. A very deep, berry red. Beautiful with a smokey eyeshadow look. For some reason one that I used to always choose to wear on New Years Eve?? No idea why.. Smudges VERY easily, so definitely bring some makeup wipes with you to tidy it up. Or it could just be me haha.

Mac Taupe
The newest of Mac lipsticks in my collection. I wrote >this< post on it in more depth, if you're interested. One that I haven't warn enough, and one that I definitely want to be wearing - perfect for this time of year, so I'll make it my mission. One that you're more than likely to see in a favourites post.

Huda Beauty Liquid Lipstick in Heartbreaker
Another one that has already had a feature >here< on the blog. The perfect true red shade, that looks incredible with whatever you pair it with. It looks nice with a darker red lip liner, and a lighter red lip liner. The formula of these liquid lipsticks is insane. They last FOREVER!

NYX Matte Lipstick in Perfect Red
This is one that I have loved for years. Whenever I wear it I always receive copious amounts of compliments on the colour. It's just the ultimate red shade. It's so comfortable on the lips. It doesn't feel drying or go drying which is amazing considering it's a matte shade. And it's the cheapest lipstick of all those mentioned on my list! You must try this range - you will never be disappointed.

What is your go to autumnal lipstick?

Italy Sephora Buys

Saturday, 6 July 2019

Of course there was going to be a Sephora trip whilst we were away in Italy. In fact, I think we ended up going into three, haha. Due to the lack of Sephora's in the UK, I just had to make the most of it whilst I could.. It would have been rude not too. Here are the bits that I treated myself too.

Mac 'Yash' and 'Whirl'
Technically, Sephora don't sell Mac, but I brought these two whilst we were away, and I couldn't not include them. As after all, who doesn't love a new Mac lipstick?? Yash has been one of my firm favourites of their matte lipsticks, since first trying it in first year of university. I had been missing it dearly since I had used each last bit of it - I had even been using a lip brush to not waste the product at the bottom of the bullet.. So you could say it was well loved, and that it was overdue that I picked up a new one. It goes perfectly with Mac Whirl lip liner. Again, I had sharpened the pencil until it was miniscule and thought it be best if I replaced it. Both are lip products I love to use on the daily, or with a blown out brown smokey eye, for an evening look.

Nars Climax Mascara
There isn't a mascara that has such an impact on my lashes as this one. Only one dunk in the tube is needed to coat the entirety of my lashes, top and bottom. It adds volume, without making clumps as well as separating the lashes, fanning them out. It's one of my all time top favourite mascaras - the wand and formula is just amazing!

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in 'Good Times'
I was yet to try any of the Nars lipstick range, and this one caught my eye after swatching half of the whole lipstick collection. The shade Good Times is a nude brown shade I would say, and goes really well also, with Mac Whirl lipliner. It's the perfect handbag size and feels super comfortable on the lips. It's a very similar colour to Mac's Yash, but looks darker when it has been applied.

Nars Orgasm Afterglow Lip Balm
After falling in love with this in the Sephora in Rome and it being out of stock, I was gutted. Especially as I knew it was a product that was a part of the infamous Orgasm range. Having stumbled across a second Sephora in Nice, there was one left. I knew it was meant to be. This has been an everyday staple for my routine since buying it. It's super lightweight and gives the lips a lovely sheen, whilst moisturising at the same time. Of course, it would be cheaper to buy a tub of Vaseline, but this lip balm is bloody beautiful.

Here are some terrible swatches of all of the lip products mentioned in this post. As you can see both of the lipsticks are very similar! I didn't actually notice this until they were side by side, but they're both beautiful. If you're a lover of a good nude lipstick, you'd be a fan of either of these. From the bottom: Mac Yash, Nars Good Times, Nars Orgasm Afterglow Lip Balm, and lastly, Mac Whirl Lipliner.

Have you tried any of these make up bits? Do you wish Sephora was in the UK?

Another Mac Addition

Saturday, 17 November 2018

This lipstick now marks the 12th in my ever growing collection. Taupe was kindly gifted to me for my birthday, thank-you Rachel! You can never have too many Mac lipsticks, and they genuinely make sure a lovely gift for anyone. Taupe is described by Mac as being a "muted reddish-taupe brown", a perfect autumnal shade. Mac's matte range is definitely my favourite that they do. They're creamy, and not drying on the lips at all. They sit super comfortably for long periods of time, and don't smudge when eating. What more could you want from a matte lipstick?!
I cannot wait to wear this lipstick with every jumper I own, and throughout the colder months.

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipsticks

Saturday, 2 June 2018

Ever since I having received the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk eyeshadow palette for my 21st birthday, I have been dying to try some more of Huda Beauty's products. I know her cosmetics line is well known for her gorgeous eyelashes, but I'm not one for wearing false eyelashes all the time anymore. Don't get me wrong, when I'm going out I love to finish my makeup with a pair, but I don't wear them enough to be able to justify splashing out on them. There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing so, personally, I don't think it's worthy. That left trying her liquid matte lipsticks! My Mum kindly sent me these shades from the bunch that she ordered herself, and I have been wearing nothing else on my lips since receiving them.

Top - Heartbreaker, Middle - Bombshell, Bottom - Icon
The shades that I picked were:
Heartbreaker - It's described as a 'Pinkish Red' but I would describe it as a true red shade.
Bombshell - Described as a 'Subtle Pinkish Nude'. I would say that's exactly what it is. I have been wearing this one as my everyday nude shade and it's perfect.
Icon - Described as a 'Peachy Pink'. This shade is more out of my comfort zone but I love it for that reason. It's not the usual shade I would gravitate towards, but with bronzy skin I think it would look beautiful on the lips.

Pictured left - Heartbreaker, Middle - Icon, Right - Bombshell
The formula of these lipsticks is one of the best that I have tried. I would definitely compare them to the Anastasia Beverly Hills ones, so if you like those, you're going to equally like these just as much! They dry down quickly, and the colour doesn't change at all. Sometimes the shades can look different in the tube to what they end up looking like on the lips, but not with these! They're really long lasting - although after eating or drinking, they do need a little top up, but that's usually the case with any kind of lipstick. I'd definitely recommend giving the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipsticks a try if you are in the market for trying out some new liquid lipsticks.

Have you tried anything from Huda Beauty? What's your favourite?

My New Love

Saturday, 14 April 2018

Who doesn't love a brand new Mac lipstick? Whether it be the packaging, the vanilla kind of smell, or the excitement of trying and wearing a new lip shade, Mac lipsticks are just great. We'd all by lying if we said that we didn't have a list of shades that we want to eventually add to our collection, whether it be hidden away on the notes in your phone, or written down in a pad somewhere. The newest shade to my ever growing collection is 'Honeylove'.

Definitely one of Mac's cult shades, as I'm sure we have all heard of this lipstick at some point. I was wary at first, thinking that it would be 'too nude' for me, but to my surprise, it's perfect. The Mac website describes the shade as being 'light toned beige toned with rose'. I am a massive fan of a brown toned nude shade, and this is exactly that. If I had to compare it to any others in my collection, it would be the love child of 'Yash' and 'Velvet Teddy'. It's a matte formula - my favourite of the Mac lipsticks, and I love it paired with 'Whirl' lip liner. It's definitely going to be a shade that is worn to death.

Right - Velvet Teddy, Centre - Honeylove, Left - Yash

An Everyday Spring Look

An Everyday Spring Look

Saturday, 7 April 2018

My everyday makeup as of late has been very simple - bronzy, but subtle at the same time. My eyeshadow remains fairly neutral, I throw on a nude lip and that's it. As Spring is now upon us (or so I think so) I wanted to add a pop of colour into my makeup, but have it still be completely wearable for everyday.

Whenever I choose to wear a bold, red lip (usually no other time than Christmas), I tend to keep my eyes fairly simple. I used my trusty Morphe 305M palette and ran a light, transition brown shade into the crease of my eyelid, and my lower lash line. Added my current favourite mascara, the Scandal Eyes mascara from Rimmel, and stuck on a pair of 'Harley' Red Cherry lashes. I used to wear eyelashes on the everyday basis, but it is a habit I soon grew out of, purely to save time in the mornings (more time in bed I mean..). This gorgeous lip combo is 'Chicory' lip liner from Mac, and a matte lipstick from NYX in the shade 'Perfect Red'. They are the perfect pair.

Favs From February

Saturday, 3 March 2018

The end of another month only means one thing... A favourites post of course. I never seem to accumulate enough things over the course of the month to be able to speak about them when a new month starts, but hey, that's a good thing in my eyes (or so my bank account thinks). Here are a mixture of things that I have rediscovered or have come to love throughout the month of February.

Mac 'Retro' Lipstick and Mac 'Chicory' Lip Liner - These two I have had in my collection for aaaages, but are products that I never find myself reaching for. On a whim, this month I have been trying more shades for my lips than my usual go-to combo, and have fallen back in love with this pair. Together they make a beautiful, muted brick red/brown shade. Nothing too bright or bold, but definitely a step away from the nude side of things.

Lingerie - Is this TMI? Oh well. Recently I have been well and truly into pretty, lace underwear sets - this one being just one gorgeous set that I have picked up. This number is from Asos (shock) and looks cute under little strappy tops, and even slouchy, baggy jumpers. Asos have so many beautifully detailed pieces on their website at the moment. If you're in the market for some cute bras, take yourself over there now! There is definitely something about wearing delicate, matching underwear that makes me feel like I have everything together haha.

Flowers - I am never usually one to have flowers in my room, but this month the change was made. Flowers are a great way to add more colour and life into a room, in a temporary way. The smell and sight of them is definitely something I have enjoyed this month. Especially as Spring is slowly but surely creeping upon us all, flowers have made a lovely new addition to the corner of my chest of drawers.

Clothes - As I have mentioned on my blog before, I am the worst when it comes to finding new pieces for my wardrobe. I am just so fussy, and consider where I will truly wear something before I make a purchase. But as of late, I have found SO many pieces that I just couldn't be without. This Topshop dotty cami has been one of them. The button down detail is gorgeous, and I am a fan of light, floaty tops to wear with jeans and sandals. You'll definitely be seeing a lot of this one in the warmer months to come.

What have you been loving in the month of February?

Christmas Reds

Christmas Reds

Friday, 8 December 2017

Christmas is the season of the red lip. Of course, by all means, you can wear a red lip any time of the year, but for me, red is definitely my Christmas lip colour of choice. Finding the right red lipstick can end up being quite the chore. There are so many undertones to consider... so I thought I'd share with you my favourite red lipsticks that I will without a doubt, be wearing the hell out of up until Christmas.

Younique Splash Liquid Lipstick in Sizzling
Last Christmas, this was all I wore on my lips. Red lips make me feel super festive, and I couldn't put this one down. The formula of this lipstick is somewhat like a mousse, and this makes application easy. It lasts on the lips - even after eating Christmas dinner, so that must be saying something haha!

NYX Perfect Red Matte Lipstick
Every time I have worn this red, I am always asked what I have on my lips. Even though it is matte, this lipstick doesn't dry out the lips and is comfortable to wear for a long period of time. It definitely is a perfect red shade that looks amazing with winged liner and lots of lashes. I'd definitely like to try more colours of this range from NYX, especially as it's the most affordable of my favourite red lipsticks.

Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Merry
Merry is a much deeper red in comparison to the other two I have mentioned so far and it dries down completely matte. I love the berry/pink tones in this liquid lipstick, but I am not massively keen on the formula. The smell is a bit too overpowering, and I found it made my lips feel very dry. That being said, Merry looks gorgeous with a red gloss over the top, which also helps with the drying formula.

MAC Diva
Diva was one of the first MAC lipsticks I ever got, and I used to wear it non-stop. I find that applying this lipstick in different ways gives you a different shade of red, which I am not mad about. Dabbing this lipstick onto the lips creates a slightly lighter, but still deep toned burgundy red, whilst applying like a normal lipstick gives an intense burgundy finish. I cannot wait to whip this one out again!

Charlotte Tilbury in So Marilyn
So Marilyn gives the lips a beautiful red sheen. It's not a matte lipstick, it's definitely more on the satin side. It's not hard to wear, doesn't dry out the lips and is the perfect size to throw into your handbag. I love the fact that these lipsticks are mini... You can essentially give the shade a proper try before you commit to a full size lipstick! Who can resist a mini lipstick though?!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Review

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Review

Sunday, 17 September 2017

A lovely friend of mine made a trip to New York over the summer and picked me up this Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid lipstick in the shade Double Dare. I was super made up that she had got me a little something from her trip, knowing that she never had too (thank-you so much Rachel!). I have never tried anything from Kat Von D before, so I was super excited to try this lipstick out! I thought I'd write down my initial thoughts and share them with you...

 Packaging
Being a tattoo artist prior to having her own beauty range, it's without a doubt that the packaging for Kat Von D's products was going to be creative and intricate. I honestly think that the design not only of the lipstick packaging, but also the carton that the product comes in, is gorgeous! The design is so unique and eye-catching. I don't own anything else like it and I personally think that's such a good thing.

Formula
As with any liquid lipstick, the formula is very important. If the liquid lipstick makes your lips feel like they are about to shrivel up, it's a no from me. However, I love the formula of this lipstick! It feels like you're not wearing anything on your lips at all and doesn't clump to the sides of your lips after wearing it for a while like other liquid lipsticks I have tried. It survived after eating every time I have worn it, and that's hard to come by. Of course like a lot of people, I do like to reapply my lipstick after eating, but other than the centre of my lips, the product was still in tact. It truly is everlasting!

Colour
The shade Double Dare is described as 'cocoa blush'. Once dried matte, it looks dark pink with an undertone of brown on my lips. I personally feel that this shade is perfect for all the seasons of the year. I cannot wait to wear it throughout Autumn.
Overall, I can't really fault this lipstick. I'd love to try more shades!

Nudes

Saturday, 29 July 2017

My current 5 favourite nude lipsticks are these guys. Nude lips go with every kind of makeup look out there. I am all for wearing bold lips too, but you can never go wrong with a perfect nude.

MAC Yash
This lipstick was on my list of MAC lipsticks to get for the longest time, but I wasn't sure that it would suit me being a more brown toned nude. However, this lipstick is probably my all time favourite. It's a matte, yet it doesn't wear or feel like my other MAC matte lipsticks. It's super hydrating and comfortable to wear.

MAC Velvet Teddy
Velvet teddy was such a wanted shade back in the day! I must admit that I didn't succumb to the hype straight away, this being the most recent MAC lipstick I have brought. I do love the colour of this lipstick, and it works perfectly with the MAC Whirl lipliner - the perfect nude combo.

NYX Soft Matte Cream in Abu Dhabi
If you're looking for a matte lipstick that isn't drying or heavy on the lips, then you must try these. This shade is very similar to my natural lip colour, but that's why I love it so much. It's truly a 'your lips, but better' kinda shade. I also have three other shades, but I find myself reaching for this colour the most.

Charlotte Tilbury in Penelope Pink
How cute is this mini lipstick though?! This little lipstick came in a set of three which I have had for the longest time, but never really used until recently. This lipstick is really hydrating, and gives the lips a lovely sheen! It's definitely become one of my most used everyday lipsticks.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Pure Hollywood
I absolutely love the formula of Anastasia's liquid lipsticks - they last such a long time, even after consuming food and drink. My only criticism is that sometimes the product collects on my lips, and goes all funky. It isn't such a massive problem as it can be sorted by just wiping the product off and reapplying it, but I thought it would be worth mentioning. This colour is such a lovely nude toned pink perfect for any outfit.

What're you favourite nude lipsticks? Have you tried any of my fav's?

February Favs

Friday, 3 March 2017

I never usually tend to have favourites that stick out to me each month, (being a student I can't justify spending money on new products each month haha!) but I know when I like something if it's something I have been using consistently.

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation
Being the first high end foundation that I have ever purchased, I was expecting big things. I am currently on the second bottle of the stuff and I cant get enough! The formula isn't exactly sheer, it's definitely a medium buildable coverage, which I like. It blends out seamlessly and gives a dewy, brightening finish. I 100% want to try more Nars products.
Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in Pure Hollywood
This muted nude/pale pink lipstick goes with any eyeshadow look, whether it be bold or natural. It dries down quickly, but isn't drying. It's something I've been wearing if I am running out of time in the mornings as I can apply it super quickly, and don't need to worry about it ending up all over my face haha.
Hugo Boss The Scent fragrance
Peaches is what I call this perfume, because it smells of exactly that! It's so fresh, sweet and yummy!
Mac Whirl lip liner
Mac lip liners are some of the best, and Whirl has been in my collection a while now. It goes well with the Anastasia liquid lipstick, glides on effortlessly and stays put.
Mac single shadow in Charcoal Brown
I don't tend to use single eyeshadows on a daily basis purely because using a palette is less time consuming. I can't be dealing with searching for single shadows but I have been enjoying using this matte shadow. It works well with any eyeshadow look making it seem more smoky and put together.
Green Tea
Personally, green tea has never been my thing. But as of late, I have been really enjoying it! It's really refreshing and so good with a bit of honey.
Riverdale
Riverdale is a American Teen Drama Netflix series about a murder investigation in the town of Riverdale. It's been hard to wait every Friday for a new episode - I just want to binge watch it all, haha!

MAC Lipstick

Friday, 27 January 2017

I feel like MAC lipstick started the love I have for all things makeup.  I remember getting my first one, and wanting more.. I now have 10 in total!
MAC lipstick's are a makeup staple in my eyes and with so many to chose from, there is bound to be one (or many!) for everyone. There is always room for another one..
The shades I have are: diva, stone, mehr, twig, yash (my absolute fav!), velvet teddy, retro, crème d'nude, cockney, & viva glam 3.

Whether you're buying a lipstick for yourself or treating someone else, I feel like you can never go wrong with a MAC lipstick.
