What I've Been Into Lately

Saturday, 10 March 2018

I have made it my mission recently to steer away from what I am used too and mix it up a bit - whether that be reading a new book, or even listening to a new album. I am always re-reading the same book over and over, and it goes exactly the same with the music I listen too. I find a song that I love, and it just gets played on repeat. This has to stop haha. There are many new things that I have been trying and really enjoying lately, here they are...

Listening: I love finding new artists to listen too. Making a new playlist with fresh new songs to listen to in the morning is always a winner. Recently I have been really into Zak Abel. Only in the last couple of weeks have I discovered his album, 'Only When We're Naked', after having listened to some of his more well known songs last year. Another artist I have been into is Tory Lanez. Finding an album where I enjoy most all the songs is such a challenge, but the songs on his older album have been played a lot lately!

Watching: If you know me well, you'll know I am well and truly a Netflix binger. I am always on the look out for a new series to watch - if you have any recommendations please do let me know! This one doesn't technically count for what I have been into lately, but seeing as there has been at least a month since the last episode appeared on Netflix, I think it's fair to mention it - Riverdale. Having to wait that long for an episode has been torture, but I am excited to see how they round off season 2. Another Netflix watch that I have enjoyed is Atypical. It focuses on an autistic teenager, Sam, who wants to find a girlfriend. The story follows Sam in his quest along with all the other events that arise involving his friends and family. It's very light-hearted, funny and easy to follow along with. I'm looking forward to the second season.

Reading: The only reading I tend to do is university related, and that's something I definitely want to change. Of course, there is no skipping out on the reading that I have to do for university, but I do want to make more time to read books that aren't set. I have recently started reading '50 Shades of Grey' by E.L James. This book most definitely wouldn't be most people's first choice, but I was intrigued to see how the books match up with the films. So far I have been enjoying getting back into reading and will no doubt be adding more books to my reading list.

Eating: Last July I made the decision to cut dairy out of my diet. After narrowing down specific foods that were making me feel unsettled, bloated and quite frankly, making my stomach horrible, I decided that I wasn't going to eat dairy products anymore. It was, and has been, much harder than I thought it would be, however milk isn't an issue for me, I love soya and almond. But I really miss cheese. I picked up a lactose free cheese when I was food shopping last, and honestly, I cannot tell much of a difference. Maybe it's because it's been such a long time since I have had cheese, but it's made me happy to incorporate 'cheese' into my diet again. Yay.

What have you been into lately?

  8. I recently started watching Riverdale, I'm only two episodes in but I absolutely love it. I've never heard of Zak Abel before, so I'll have to check his music out as I'm always looking for new singers to listen to!
